Coach Hansen is entering his 10th season as coach of the Auburn Trojans. He is a 1996 graduate of
Coach VanDerPuy is in his 10th year as an assistant here at Auburn. Coach VanDerPuy is a 1994 graduate of Curtis High School and a 1998 graduate of Western Washington University where he played football. Coach V has had coaching experience in both football and basketball at Ferndale High School and Nooksack Valley High before teaching in the Auburn School District as a middle school teacher and coach. He is currently teaching World History at AHS, as well as coaching the football team in the fall. Coach V will help promote a positive environment and a winning attitude here in our basketball family. Abe and his wife Megan live in Bonney Lake and have been married for 12 years. They have two children; Owen (8) who plays in the ABA system, and Lauren (6) who loves being a cheerleader for the Trojans.
Coach Chew is coaching in his 7th year here at Auburn High School. He coached 8 years at Olympic Middle School as head coach and 3 years at
Coach Way joined the basketball staff in 2007. He brings a vast knowledge of the game and has helped elevate our program to its present status. Coach Way graduated from Highland High School in Craigmont, Idaho in 1997. He then went on to Walla Walla Community College, where he and Coach Hansen were teammates for one season. After Walla Walla, Coach Way went on to play at Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston Idaho. While playing for the Warriors, Coach Way was voted to the NAIA Academic All American team along with winning a conference title and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament. Along with his Auburn High duties, coach Way is presently the varsity boys coach at Olympic Middle School. He’s been at the helm since 2005 preparing his players to play at the high school level. He currently teaches Physical Education at Olympic along with coaching basketball and track. Coach Way and his wife Lacey have a 5 year old son named Cooper, a 3 year old son named Max, and an eight month old daughter named Kinley. They reside in Bonney Lake.
